EDTA blood sample

Application EDTA blood sample

Blood samples can be sent for each of the genetic tests we offer.

Information about the procedure

1. Let your veterinarian take 0.5 - 1 ml of your animal's blood in an EDTA blood tube. It is important that the blood does not clot. If it is sent 1 to 2 days after collection, it does not need to be refrigerated; however, it should never be exposed to sunlight or intense heat.

2. The tube must be clearly labeled with the animal's name and the owner's last name, plus the date the specimen was collected. Send the blood sample, located in a sealable bag, along with the sample documentation, order form, and your customer information. We should receive the blood samples within 3 days of collection.

Notes on sample collection

Regardless of the sender, please note:

  • Samples for study purposes or if forwarding is required should contain at least 2 ml. Standard tests can also be performed from a few drops.
  • After collection, mix the blood well with the EDTA by swirling several times.
